The Nevada basketball teams had little difficulty in winning a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girl/boy doubleheader on the home court of the Cubs against Greene County on Tuesday night. The girls’ final was 70-14 and the final in the boys’ game was 71-37. Both games were broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams are 0-6 overall and 0-3 in conference play in girls’ basketball. Nevada improved to 3-4 and 3-1. Sophomore Makenna Ebersole had eight points to lead the Rams. The Cubs were ahead 35-12 at the half and were led in scoring by junior Emilee Kelley with 15 points. The Rams unofficially turned the ball over 34 times to 11 for the Cubs.

Greene County led 8-0 and held the Nevada boys scoreless for the first five minutes of the game, but then the Cubs ran away to their sixth win with no losses and they are now 4-0 in conference games. Greene County is 0-3 in the league and 3-4 overall. The Cubs led 34-16 at halftime and junior John Nelson led all players in scoring with 22 points. The Cubs made nine three-point shots to three for the Rams. Junior Teagan was the leading scorer for Greene County with 13 points, 12 after halftime.

The Greene County boys have played five games in a row on the road and the girls have been away from Jefferson for four straight. The Rams host Roland-Story (Story City) on Friday night in a girl/boy twin bill in the high school gym in Jefferson. The games will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. After Friday, the Rams will be on a break from games until Jan. 3.
