Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is working towards celebrating the upcoming holiday.

Extension Youth Coordinator Rachel Blum says that their series of events before Christmas starts Friday, with an “On Their Own and Okay” workshop from 2:30-4:30pm. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the last two events before Christmas are on Monday, with one including the Clover Kids of Guthrie County.

“In the afternoon, we’re going to do a Clover Kids holiday baking workshop from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Extension Office so any kindergarten through third grade aged kids can come. You just need to call the office to register.”

Blum mentions that the other event on Monday is a chunky blanket workshop, available to fourth through twelfth grade students. She adds that children in fourth through sixth grade will need an assistant or guardian to help them, and that the program will be in the morning from 9am to noon. The holiday baking workshop and “On Their Own and Ok” programs have an attendance fee of $15, while the Chunky Blanket Workshop is $40.
