A spokesperson for an essential non-profit business in the Perry area reflects on how the past year unfolded for them.

In 2024, the Dallas County Hospital celebrated 70 years of service as Public Relations Marketing Foundation Director Tom Harmsen recalls that the organization held a gala in April. He says that new programs the hospital has incorporated this past year was in advanced wound care, hiring new orthopedic surgeons, as well as providers in sports medicine, and pulmonology. Harmsen points out that assisting patients has been one of the main goals in 2024.

“Providing that continuity of care is important for patients for their health and their well-being. We’re very mindful of community health assessments and identifying gaps, and trying to fill those. There’s a lot of analysis that goes into new providers that we’re bringing on and we’re seeing the ones we’re introducing are very important to our market place.”

Harmsen details that the hospital is supplying a space for the Urbandale-based counseling company, Mosaic, for services every Monday. He comments that the hospital is trying to accommodate the needs of patients, as well as infrastructure demands.
