A Fort Dodge man was sentenced to probation for a December 2023 incident at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson.
According to court documents, 51-year-old Marcus Hill pled guilty to a Class D Felony for passing a winning wager to another person. He had a five year prison sentence suspended and was placed on probation for two years with the Iowa Department of Correctional Services.
The charge stemmed from an incident on December 17, 2023 when Hill won a jackpot from a slot machine at Wild Rose Casino in Jefferson. Hill had another person attempt to claim the jackpot, but video surveillance showed that he actually won it. When Hill’s information was run through the Iowa Department of Administrative Services Offset Program, he owed $12,207 to the state.
Court documents show that Hill was also ordered to pay over $1,000 in probation fees, court-appointed attorney fees, and court costs. As per the plea agreement, Hill had an aggravated misdemeanor for third degree fraudulent practices dismissed.
