Last night the Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs picked up their fifth win of the season, hosting the Des Moines Roosevelt Roughriders and defeated them 65-55.
The Mustang girls would have an explosive start against the Roughriders, as senior Devon Carlile got her first start of the season and quickly left her mark on the first quarter, scoring the first five points of the game. Carlile started with a lay up under pressure to open the game in the opening seconds then found the deep ball in the corner for 3 to quickly notch in 5 points for the Mustangs. The Mustangs would end the first quarter up by 8 with the score at 18-10 and continue to keep the momentum going into the halftime break up by 6 with the score at 30-24.
The Mustangs would continue this lead throughout the third quarter, as the Mustangs would combine for 20 points. Brauch and Carlile would continue to keep the momentum, as Brauch would hit two big threes in the final quarter ending the night with 20 points and a 65-55 Mustang victory over the Roughriders.
The Mustang girls now sit at 5-1 and prepare for action tonight against the Newton Cardinals. Double header action from DCG High School will be on KDLS2 starting at 5:45pm.
