The 2024 Winter Festival: Celebration of Trees in Jefferson saw record breaking numbers.

Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says at least 900 people attended the two-day event, including 883 people that voted for their favorite decorated tree out of 47 entries. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio the People’s Choice winner this year was the Greiner/Chapman family with the Lego Tree. Other activities included a kids scavenger hunt, where they had to find clues on the different trees, to the crafts for the kids, the sock skating rink, hayrides and photos with Santa, along with the Friday evening adult outing where 150 people attended.

Wetrich appreciates everyone that came out and made the Winter Festival a big success last weekend.

“Really tickled with the attendance, knowing it was a busy weekend and really proud with how it went and really pleased that the community came out to be a part of it.”

Wetrich also thanks everyone who was involved with this year’s event, including Doug Hawn and the Greene County Fair Board for being this year’s host at Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds.

“Thanks Doug Hawn at the fairgrounds for his efforts and really kind of went above and beyond to help accommodate us through the week to help. There’s a lot of set time that goes into all the decor and try to make it feel extra homey and festival, and all of that good stuff. So Doug was an all-star on help with that.”

Wetrich is looking forward to next year’s Winter Festival and hopes everyone can attend in 2025, the first weekend of December.
