The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Basketball teams were on the road as they both garnered victories over Carroll Tuesday night.
The Tiger girls won 39-30 and the boys score was 78-52. In the girls matchup, it was a slow start for ADM as they were turning the ball over and were stifled by great defense. At the end of the first quarter, Carroll led 14-4 but six points were scored from both teams as Carroll took a 20-10 advantage into the halftime break. The biggest story of the first half for ADM is that they had 10 turnovers, but Head Coach Danielle Craig would make an adjustment, then ADM would go onto outscore Carroll 29-10 in the second half, including holding Carroll to two points in the third quarter.
Leading the way for Carroll was senior Olivia Rowedder with nine points, followed by senior Katelyn Aden with seven points, and junior Ali Kock’s five. For ADM, freshman Ella Subbert had 14 points, with senior Kelli Storck adding six, and freshman Aubrey Noring with five. Carroll falls to 2-2 and ADM improves to 3-3.
In the boys game, the first quarter was competitive as there were several lead changes with Carroll in front 15-14 after one. The second quarter was more back and forth action, and following a tie at 23-23, ADM would end the second quarter on a 13-2 run to take a 36-25 advantage into the half. ADM opened the game up more by scoring another 21 points in the third to lead 57-37, then kept things rolling to a final score of 78-52.
Junior Hudson Lorensen led the way with 33 points, junior Hudson Shull had 16, and it was Trey Bryte contributing with 13 points. Carroll’s Trey Tassell had 13, followed by senior Carter Essick’s 12, and senior Stone Sibenaller and junior Jared Mohr each had 10. Carroll falls to 1-2 overall (1-1 inside the Raccoon River Conference) as ADM goes to 3-0 overall (2-0 RRC). Carroll will be on the road in Storm Lake on Saturday as ADM will travel to Winterset Friday night. Raccoon Valley Radio will carry the broadcast, starting with the girls at 6pm.
