A member with Dallas County Habitat for Humanity walks through the advantages of having a plan that will help with housing.

Community Partnership Coordinator Lindsey Van Wyk tells Raccoon Valley Radio that a habitat affordable mortgage gets people one step closer to home ownership that normally wouldn’t qualify for a typical mortgage, either from income or financial troubles. She reveals the benefits that a habitat affordable mortgage can have.

“Meaning that the interest rate would be well below that of the market rate, and that monthly mortgage payments could not exceed over 30 percent of their income at the time of purchase.”

Van Wyk describes that a habitat homeowner works alongside the homeowner services team to go over the preparation process to become mortgage eligible, and to give them the tools to be financially responsible for home ownership.
