As we told you earlier this week… a new event aimed at helping support those who fight for our country and their families is happening this weekend in Adel.

Freedom Fest founder Brenna Young says the daylong event has something for everyone to enjoy from young to old and everything in between.  She says there will also be an auction with items like a hot air balloon ride and a night at the Hotel Pattee up for grabs.

And as we’ve mentioned, it’s for a good cause, supporting the Adel American Legion, the Child Youth Program and Warrior and Family Services Branch.

Even though it’s the first event, Young is hoping to start with a bang with a goal of raising $10,000.

Freedom Fest takes place at Park Place Catering in Adel with lunch starting at 11am, activities throughout the afternoon and the Freedom Dance at 7:30.
