The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls Basketball team used a huge fourth quarter to catapult themselves to an opening victory on Friday night against Des Moines Christian.
The Tigers defeating the Lions 48-41 in Adel to begin the 2024-25 season. It was a slow start for both teams as 14 total points were scored in the first quarter and DMC led 8-6. The second quarter saw more great defense as ADM held a 14-12 for a while before a desperation three point heave from Lions Senior Meg Muller gave DMC a 15-14 halftime advantage.
The offenses woke up in the third quarter as the Lions built a seven point lead before the Tigers closed the quarter to trail 32-29, going into the fourth. The last quarter would belong to ADM outscored DMC 19-9 with big buckets from senior Kelli Stork, senior Aniston Tollari, junior Lauren Hagedorn, and freshman Ella Subbert to give the Tigers a comfortable 46-35 lead. The Lions would try to rally late, but ADM keep the distance and won by the final score of 48-41.
Leading scorer for DMC was junior Addy Oetker with 15, seven points for Muller, and four points for both junior Catie Hall and senior Etta Fish. For ADM, Storck led all scores with 18, Hagedorn had 11 points, and Subbert had eight. The Lions were 15/26 from the free throw line, while the Tigers were 5/14. DMC falls to 0-1 as they have their home opener against Ankeny on December 2nd, and ADM improves to 1-0 and first win for Head Coach Danielle Craig, as they will be back in Adel Monday night taking on Norwalk at 7pm.
