Greene County Middle School will have three students that are going to perform in a distinguished ensemble.
Seventh grader Delaney Pederson and eighth graders Eli Hardaway and Gabe Gerzema were selected to be in the OPUS Honor Choir. Director Snowy Anderson says about 60 students in 5th-9th grades recorded their auditions and the judges made their choices based on that. Pedersen qualified for OPUS Honor Choir as a fifth grader as she describes what she liked the most about being there before.
“That year, it was one of the best experiences that I’ve had. It was very fun and just to get to sing with a whole bunch of other people that are just as good and to sound really good together. It was really fun. So I’m very happy that I get to make those memories again and that that will be really fun just to do it again.”
Hardaway talks about what he is looking forward to the most when they perform on Thursday night.
“I’d say the meeting new people and the food, of course. The meeting new people because there’s some really cool people that I’ve met from honor choir too that I’ve become great friends. And the food because I’ve heard that ISU’s food is spectacular. And I also can’t wait to eat all o the dessert there.”
Anderson adds that Pederson will be part of the seventh grade choir ensemble as second soprano and Hardaway and Gerzema will be with the eighth grade ensemble as second bass and first tenor, respectively. The concert begins at 4pm tomorrow at Stephens Auditorium at Iowa State University in Ames.
