With 11 months has passed since the shooting in the Perry School District, Superintendent Clark Wicks reports that students are receiving great mental health support.

Wicks tells Raccoon Valley Radio that Mental Health Coordinator Jena Blize supervises the mental health therapists the Perry School District provides in order to accommodate different students’ needs. Wicks lists some great resources that Blize has been able to help the school district out with.

“One highlight was being able to hire a mental health therapist; number two, getting everything coordinated; number three, she mentioned that there were over 65 different students that were asking for some kind of service, and all of those needs have been supported and things have been arranged so that mental health therapist can see those 65 people.”

Wicks is appreciative of the great work that Blize continues to do for the school district and says that it correlates to building resiliency and healthy minds within students and staff members.
