Some facilities at the campgrounds in Guthrie County have been made ready for winter, but the grounds are still open to the public.
Guthrie County Conservation Director Brad Halterman says that the buildings with plumbing, like bathrooms and shower house, at both Nations Bridge Park and Lenon Mill Park have been winterized, meaning that they cannot be used until after temperatures warm back up. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there is still a utility available for those who wish to spend time outdoors.
“Our electricity is still on at our camping pads. The upper campground at Nations Bridge, those camping pads, and our camping pads down at Lennon Mill. We still have the electricity on, so you still can camp if you’re a self-contained unit like that. In fact, we had several campers out this last weekend.”
Halterman mentions that other facilities like the shelter houses are available for use when the weather is fit for being outside. He adds that the walking trails are also still available to be used in decent weather.
