A non-profit organization honored the memory of longtime Perry High School Principal Dan Marburger in a special way on Tuesday.
The Dallas County Area Retired School Personnel Association dedicated a bench in Marburger’s name that sits in front of the Perry Performing Arts Center and the high school. Co-Chair Karen Einck stated that the organization chose that spot because it is next to a tree that honors Marburger’s predecessor, Dr. Eugene Brady. Einck then gifted Dan’s wife, Elizabeth with a stake to put in the ground that reads “Always in Our Heart: Dan Marburger.”
She added that the DCARSPA raised $1,784.92 to go towards Marburger’s biggest causes that were close to his heart; which included the Student Needs Fund, the Perry Food Pantry, and the Giving Tree. A poem was then read to Elizabeth about the type of hero Dan was, which was then given to her as a keepsake.
