The Perry High School Drama Department is preparing to showcase their fall play tomorrow and Saturday.
Drama Director Randy Peterson tells Raccoon Valley Radio the show is “PUFFS,” which offers a fresh perspective in the renowned Harry Potter universe told through the eyes of the fictional class “The Hufflepuffs.” Senior Olivia Christensen portrays the role of Megan Jones, who doesn’t want to be a “puff.” Christensen acknowledges that her character is pretty complex.
“Megan, she goes through a lot of phases in trying not being a puff. So I have to take on that character and persona every single time, but even though she tries to have these different fronts, she always has that one main goal to just be different.”
Christensen admits that she hasn’t seen all the Harry Potter movies, but is still anticipating others in the audience that will recognize certain references from the series. Other students in the play include senior Hunter Ayres, who’s the narrator, senior Ethan Jackson is portraying Wayne Hopkins, and senior Andres Zarate is Oliver Rivers.
Peterson shares that he chose the play to challenge the students with a well-known concept and appreciates that they are willing to adapt to any role they are asked to play. The showtimes for tomorrow and Saturday will be at 7pm at the Perry Performing Arts Center. Tickets are on sale to students and adults for $6 and can be purchased by clicking here.
