All Republican candidates in Greene County were declared the unofficial winners from Tuesday’s General Election.
According to the Greene County Auditor’s Office, County Supervisor District 1 was won by Republican Joe Gannon with nearly 60 percent of the vote over the Democratic candidate Greg Ruth. The other contested County Supervisor race was in District 4 with Republican incumbent John Muir defeating Democrat challenger Tori Riley with 71 percent of the vote. The other contested county race was for sheriff, as Republican incumbent Jack Williams beat Shane Monthei, who was running as party not affiliated, with just over 60 percent of the vote. Williams had this to say after winning his third term as Greene County Sheriff.
“I just want to thank all of the people for voting for me, and just voting in general. I mean that’s where Democracy, that’s how progress moves forward, and I’m glad that I get to stay for another four years and I hope to continue to do to this for another two to three terms.”
The one ballot measure that unincorporated voters were against was changing the revenue purpose statement for the Local Option Sales and Services Tax (LOSST) fund as there were 877 no votes against 519 yes ballots.
The full unofficial results are in for the Iowa House and Senate districts that Greene County is with. According to the Secretary of State’s Office, Republican incumbent Carter Nordman was re-elected to serve another term in Iowa House District 47, defeating Democrat challenger Joe Shelley with 64 percent of the vote. Republican incumbent for Iowa Senate District 24, Jesse Green, was also re-elected as he won against the Democratic candidate Margaret Liston with 62.4 percent. US Congressman Zach Nunn carried Greene County with 70 percent of the vote, and was re-elected across the Third Congressional District with 51 percent. Sixty-six percent of Greene County voters that cast a ballot chose former President Donald Trump for President and J.D. Vance as Vice President.
