The Perry City Council met in regular session on Monday.
Perry Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh began the meeting by thanking former Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn for his years of service and officially swore in Jim Archer as the new police chief. Archer then spoke about his gratitude towards Vaughn and says he is anticipating to keep the police department working at the highest level.
Items on the agenda that were approved included a resolution for a solar power generation easement agreement between the City of Perry and Red Lion Perry Solar II LLC, a resolution to authorize signatures for the Community Development Block Grant Water/Sewer Contract in the amount of $5,000, a pay application for the Automated Weather Observing System of $77,007 to Kimrey Electric, a change order for the HMA Resurfacing on the 2024 Street Repairs resulting in a total amount of $1,590,618.43, and a certificate of completion for the repairs.
Additional items that were approved by the council pertained to a pay application for the Iowa Street Stormwater Wetland project in the amount of $183,431.49 to Sandstone Management LTD Incorporated, a resolution on the fiscal year 2023 audit report, and a resolution to approve a lot tie agreement to Raccoon Valley Bank to construct accessory structures over two parcels.
