There is still time to donate to a worthy cause that aims to help out those less fortunate youth in Greene County.
RSVP 55+ Volunteer Program Greene County Coordinator Sheilah Pound says the 16th Annual Lots-A-Socks and More Drive has been underway since October 27th. She explains that this program collects socks and underwear from kindergarten through middle school youth within the county. Pound points out that last year they raised over 1,300 items that were distributed by Greene County New Opportunities.
Pound says the families that receive these items are those that participate in the winter outerwear program and/or the holiday food baskets, along with additional items going to the Greene County and Paton-Churdan School Districts for kids on an as needed basis.
Any donations can be dropped off until November 17th to over 25 locations across the county, which are listed below. Pound adds monetary donations are also accepted to purchase specific sizes that are in need. Financial donations can be made to RSVP Volunteer Program Lots-A-Socks, P.O. Box 104, Jefferson, IA 50129.
