The Perry High School Baseball team finished with decent offensive numbers, thanks to a red hot second half. The Bluejays as a team hit .284 this year with 10 Home Runs and scored 164 runs in the 30 games played. Perry started the year ice cold offensively but picked up the tempo late in the year, and that’s when it seemed the power came around as well.  ” No there hasn’t been a change their just seeing  the ball better, i don’t think they are trying to pull the ball as much we really emphasis that most teams that we play against are going to pitch you on the outside part of the plate, and so they are going to pitch on the outside part of the plate you’ve got to take the ball to right and right center. And so in practice we really emphasis that they take the ball to that side of the field and if you noticed several of our home runs have gone out to that part of the field and I know that Ben hit one for us the other day against Carlisle and it was in right field. So I think that’s been one of the things that as you get older, and get a little bit smarter and get more comfortable with yourself then that’s when you can start taking that ball the opposite way and that’s what our kids have done.” That’s Perry High School Baseball Coach Mike Long, the Jays finished up Raccoon River Conference Champions with a record of 23-7.
