A fitness program is starting up soon with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

JPRD Director Nathan Kral says the Lazy Man Triathlon is a six week self-improvement competition, where participants are tested to see if they can meet the goals that are set for them. He points out that each individual is trying to complete 26.2 miles on a treadmill, cross trainer, or walking and running; 112 miles of cycling, and due to not having an indoor pool for the swimming portion, competitors must do 50,000 meters on a rowing machine. Kral explains if participants need to do all of these components at the Greene County Community Center.

“You certainly can do it outside (of the rec center), but you are more than welcome to use the rec center as well. So yeah, you can do both.”

The cost to participate is $20 per person which includes a t-shirt for those individuals who finish all three portions. Contact the community center at 515-386-3412 to sign up.
