Seven middle school students from Adel-DeSoto-Minburn were recently selected to the 2024 Iowa Opus Honor Choir.
ADM Middle School Vocal Music Teacher Ellie Roquet tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the students are in grades seventh and eighth and is a huge honor as over 2,000 Iowa students submitted a recording audition, but only 640 make it through representing four different choirs. She notes that ADM will feature four Soprano/Altos in the 7-8 Treble Choir and three Tenor/Basses in the 7-8 Bass Choir. Roquet expresses how happy she is for the students that qualified but for each student that was involved as she reveals that it gives them a chance to grow in their musical capabilities and knowledge.
The seven students that made it to the Opus Honor Choir will be performing at C.Y. Stephens Auditorium on Iowa State University’s campus at 4pm on November 21st. She adds that a livestream will be available for families or friends that cannot attend. The link will be ready a little closer to the event.
