With just about two months left in 2024, the Panora mayor looks back on progress and good that has occurred so far.

Mayor Curtis Thornberry says that the city has had a really busy year, finishing some key projects. He mentions that while some like the Jackson Street project, which redeveloped some of the southwest part of the town, took a little longer to complete than expected, and he’s happy to have that project done.

Thornberry tells Raccoon Valley Radio another key area of improvement was in housing.

“You know, I look at some of the other priorities we’ve been having this past year with housing. Last year was really big in working with Region XII (Council of Governments) on housing. This year we’re working on downtown second floor housing and watching that CDBG (Community Development Building Grant) grant kind of come to fruition with the developer redoing the location on the end of Main Street for three new second story apartments, which would be really kind of key for us.”

Thornberry explains that in the Dream Maker subdivision, two houses have been built, with conversations continuing on how to further develop the area.
