With Halloween happening tomorrow, Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante warns parents/guardians to inspect kids’ candy after trick or treating.

Infante shares that as a father, he will make it a priority to double check his own son’s candy before he indulges in it. He says that the family knows most of the neighbors that they’re receiving the candy from, but there are times he ventures outside of the neighborhood to get treats from people they are unfamiliar with. Infante points out things that he is on the lookout for.

“The homemade stuff gives me concern and pause, any wrapper that seems to be messed with or opened or taped or anything like that. It’s just safer to throw it away.”

He adds that parents/guardians should advise their children to wait until they return home before eating the candy, so that way they have time to properly check their bags.
