Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Superintendent Greg Dufoe is happy to bump up the salary to assist the classified employees for the 2024-25 school year.
Dufoe tells Raccoon Valley Radio that as part of the last Iowa Legislative Session, money was set aside for Iowa public schools in order to achieve a pay increase for certain positions. He zeros in on how much money is specifically benefitting the ADM School District.
“For us, we receive an allocation of around $60,000 and that’s going to translate into roughly an additional $400 for a classified employee that works with us the full year.”
Dufoe notes that the money allocated stretches over two pay periods, exemplifying that if an employee began working with the school district on August 23rd, then works through the Christmas break, they will be given a $200 stipend in the month of January, and the same applies to an employee that works January through May of 2025. Dufoe is anticipating to keep reviewing the policy to increase it further in the future, but is satisfied that the district can accomplish this now.
