Greene County pitcher Marissa Promes was named to the 2014 Class 3A State Softball Tournament All-Tournament Team. Promes, a junior, was the pitcher for the Rams, who placed third in their first-ever State Tournament. She posted a 2-0 win over sixth ranked Center Point-Urbana in the quarterfinals, then allowed just one earned run in a 4-1 loss in the semifinals to third rated and eventual champion Clarke (Osceola). Promes was back on the pitcher rubber just 13 hours after the semifinal loss and helped the Rams finish third with a 10-3 victory over second rated East Marshall (Le Grand).
At the plate in the three games at state, Promes went three for 10 with a home run and two runs batted in. Eleven players were named All-Tournament.
