A special live music event is happening at a business in the downtown area of Jefferson this Saturday.

Elliott Art Studio is hosting a double album release party starting at 7pm. Professional singer-songwriter and guitarist Chad Elliott will perform songs from his recently released 26th album, “Untested Wings.” Elliott says this was the first time he self-produced an album that took one week to record and it features 11 songs.

The other album called, “Weary Ramblers” is a self-titled album of the same band that includes Elliott and professional fiddler player Kathryn Severing Fox. She describes the process of figuring out the order of songs that are under the umbrella of Americana music, before they recorded each tune.

“I will never forget Chad and I being in his art studio putting together the order of the album too. We had these little sheets of paper, we kept moving them around, and just kind of found the exact order. Once that’s there, it was kind of easy to go into the studio and just be like, ‘Alright, here we go.’”

Additionally, the “Weary Ramblers” album has also garnered three Iowa Music Award nominations including Best Album, Best Lyricist and Best Overall Group, and it is being considered in several categories for Grammy nominations. The duo will perform music from the album as well as delving into the background of how it was made.

The concert is free and open to the public as attendees are reminded to bring their own seating, along with their own drinks and snacks to share.
