This week is the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana and several Greene County students are on the road.

Freshman McKinley Dzuris is also in her first year as an FFA member and she describes why she wanted to join the agricultural-based organization.

“I wanted to join FFA because I didn’t have much of an ag background and I didn’t live on a farm, so I started showing animals and doing 4-H. So then when I got to high school (I) thought FFA would be a really good option for me.

Freshman Hannah Fouch has been to the FFA State Convention, where she met other FFA’ers from across Iowa, but she is most excited to be at the National Convention to meet FFA members from across the country.

“So it would be just really cool to keep in contact with them. Later on, maybe I could see them in college or other places and that would be just really cool connection to have. I’m really excited the pop bottle (Coca-Cola) company I think that’s really cool and also we’re going to a honey farm and I don’t really understand how that works. So I’m just really excited to get into that.”

Greene County FFA will be attending the 97th National Convention from October 21st-25th.
