The Panorama School Board held their October meeting Monday night.

Superintendent Kasey Huebner says that for the most part, the meeting was informational with a few action items. He mentions that he shared the good news in the district with the Board, starting with the 8th Grade Science Teacher Mr. Dorhout and his outdoor education class.

“He’s really been a leader within our state of outdoor education. And so we talked a little bit about the field trip that they just took out to a field in Dallas County, where they picked about 25 gallons of prairie seed, and they will spread that along our prairie. And then also talked about how Mr. Dorhout is a leader of Outdoor Ed. And, you know, he’s having conversations and was part of a panel about Outdoor Ed at the Iowa Natural Summit in Des Moines.”

Huebner mentions that Dorhout shared what his classes have done with outdoor education with 215 others that were in attendance. He added that middle school student Zoey Kepple was chosen as one of 720 individuals to participate in the Iowa OPUS Honor Choir Festival. Huebner mentioned that there were only two action items on the agenda, and that the Board approved the 2023-24 special education deficit and a resolution approving expenditure of funds in the flexibility account within the general fund.
