The Perry School Board met in regular session on Monday.

Superintendent Clark Wicks revealed that the Perry Community School District has lost 109 students following their latest certified enrollment report. He attributed most of the students’ leaving was from the closure of Perry’s Tyson Foods Pork Plant at the end of June. Wicks also commented that Perry’s Recovery Coordinator Mandy Ross is doing a superb job of forming a recovery committee team to assist with mental health services.

Additionally, items on the agenda that were approved include the School Budget Review Committee request for authorization of $1,328.051.77 for maximum modified supplement pertaining to the special education deficit, a cooperative agreement between the University of Northern Iowa and Cooperating Educational Agencies, and school bus bid specifications.

The board also approved the purchase of state t-shirts for qualified athletes/activities for motivation, recognition, and continued excellence; an audit agreement between the Perry School District and Terpstra Hoke and Associates P.C. for one year in the amount of $23,500, and a Heartland Area Education Agency Teacher Librarian Memorandum of Understanding for $9,000.
