National Manufacturing Month is being celebrated in October, and a local company in Dallas County reveals technology’s advancements through the years.
Percival Scientific, which houses a facility in Perry, has been contributing to the state of Iowa since 1959. President Jake Oakland tells Raccoon Valley Radio that he’s been in the manufacturing industry for 18 years and stresses a necessary adjustment that’s been improved is the safety of employees. He illustrates that the quality aspect of manufacturing is better.
“There’s been certainly a big movement into there being more data available, so how can we measure and test, and understand what our products are doing in manufacturing? How can we measure our processes and really look to continuously improve?”
Oakland believes that much of the technology in manufacturing is driven by the desire for the betterment of the industry. He hopes that in addition to the technology providing a higher level of safety measures and quality service, that the work of the employees is done more effectively as well.
