early-voting-2

Early in-person voting begins today across Iowa.

Greene County Auditor Billie Jo Hoskins says any eligible voter in the county can cast their ballot starting today through the day before Election Day on November 5th. The voting location is in the east lobby of the first floor of the Greene County Courthouse in Jefferson. The hours that people can vote are from 8am-4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Hoskins points out that her office can also start mailing out absentee ballots for those individuals that have submitted their request forms. She reminds everyone that the final day they can mail absentee ballots is October 21st.

Hoskins suggests for anyone who wants to register to vote for the first time to make sure they bring their driver’s license with the current address. She explains what people can do if they do not have their correct address on their license.

“You would need another form of identification proving that you do live where you’re saying you want to register to. It has to be a utility bill, a pay stub, anything that’s officially generated by the government. And if spouses come, you know husband and wife come, you need to make sure if you’re using a different form of identification that both names are on that bill, or lease, or bank statement, whatever you’re trying to use to prove who you are.”

Hoskins adds to return a voted absentee ballot, those individuals can drop it off either at the County Auditor’s Office during normal business hours, in the self-dedicated ballot drop off box on the east side of the courthouse, or through their regular mail.
