A Michigan man that was charged in the vehicular death of an Adel man last year and recently found guilty.

According to court documents, a jury in Polk County District Court on Monday found 54-year-old Dmytro Prysich of Hamtramck, Michigan guilty of a Class B Felony for vehicular homicide, OWI and not guilty for the Class C Felony charge for leaving the scene of an accident causing death.

The charge stemmed from an incident on November 12, 2023. Court documents show that Prysich was heading west on Interstate-80 in the Urbandale area, when he did not slow down his 2024 Volvo Semi Tractor-Trailer as emergency crews were on the right shoulder assisting a vehicle that was being towed. Prysich then hit and killed 45-year-old Joshua Villa, of Adel, who was getting out of his tow truck.

Court documents show that a sentence hearing is scheduled for December 10th and District Court Judge Christopher Kemp has rescinded Prysich’s bond and will be held in the Polk County Jail until his sentencing hearing. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
