Dallas County recently was recognized with many other Iowa counties for a grant through the Iowa Transportation Commission.

According to a press release from the Iowa Department of Transportation, the commission approved $5,100,000 in funding for six rail infrastructure and related rail development projects. The grant is under the Railroad Revolving Loan and Grant Program. Dallas County was awarded $957,000, as it was one of six Iowa counties to be honored. 

The other counties include Black Hawk, Appanoose, Des Moines, Wayne, and Hamilton. The commission announces that the projects are expected to support the creation and retention of 55 jobs within three years of the project completion.
