The Adel City Council met in regular session on Tuesday.
The council discussed that they are still working on repaving Rapid Street in Adel by replacing infrastructure, redoing water lines, removing lead, and installing new sewer lines. The council also is planning a meeting with the Iowa Department of Transportation about working on Highway 169.
Items on the agenda that were approved at the meeting included appointing Susan Stodgill to the Adel Library Board of Trustees, and a joint representation consent and waiver and engagement with Ahlers and Cooney P.C. between the Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Community School District and the City of Adel for Annexation and Development of a new high school.
The council tabled an amendment for the Southbridge Urban Renewal Area related development agreement with Cramer & Associates Incorporated to collect tax increment financing revenue from additional commercial properties. Following lengthy conversations about animal protection and control to add regulations for dangerous dogs, the council decided to reconsider the item in December, and no action was taken on resident permits for apartments above downtown businesses in Adel.
