The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

The Board heard an update from Health Services Director Jotham Arber, in which he mentioned that the Public Health Department’s Home Health program was running steadily and smoothly. He also shared that he accepted a position on the Elderbridge Agency on Aging Advisory Committee, along with there being a potential shift in employees in the next few years as some are nearing retirement, and new employees would be trained before that happened.

The Board then approved an appropriation of 25 percent of the sheriff’s office’s budget for fiscal year 2024-25 after a short discussion with Sheriff Marty Arganbright and Jail Administrator Jesse Swensen. Supervisor Mike Dickson thanked both for the monthly reports on revenues from holding out of county inmates, but mentioned that he would like to see the administrative costs factored into the expenses. There was also discussion with no formal action of increasing the holding fee for out of county inmates from $60 to $65 per day.

The Board then finished the meeting by discussing the community meetings on the emergency medical services ballot measure for the November election. Supervisor Steve Smith mentioned that the meetings have been going well in the matter of informing those that attend, but that the attendance has been low. The Board will continue with the remaining scheduled meetings, and share another update at the next regular session on how those have gone.
