Following the recent announcement by Thomas Jefferson Gardens of Greene County that it would no longer host the summer season Greene County Farmers Market, a new entity has picked that up.

The Greene County Fair Association will be the hosts starting the 2025 season and Katlynn Mechaelsen, who is the Fair Association Vice President, says that their organization recognized the need and importance of keeping the farmers market in Greene County by having at the fairgrounds. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the Fair Association plays an important role in the community and being able to provide a space is one way they can show that.

Mechaelsen describes the location of the farmers market will be at the north entrance to the fairgrounds, where there is lots of space, people and vendors are protected against motoring traffic, and the lines of trees provide adequate shade that will make a comfortable atmosphere for everyone. She points out that retired Thomas Jefferson Gardens Board member Jean Walker will manage the farmers market, as their organization trusts her viewpoint and recognizes that she is a fantastic resource to help continue this endeavor.

Mechaelsen adds that the farmers market is a great opportunity for small businesses to showcase their produce and crafts, as she invites everyone to check out the Greene County Farmers Market next year.
