The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

The board spent some time talking about the process of how to handle meeting procedures after working hours for the new administration building. Finance Director Rob Tietz suggested an idea of having a janitor in the building until 9pm or 10pm to lock up the building once people leave. Supervisor Mark Hanson said that a deputy could also be posted on site until everyone leaves the building. The board decided to table the discussion at a later date for further review

Items on the agenda that were approved included three pay applications relating to the new criminal court building. The first was for the building in the amount of $71,383.58 to Turner Construction, the second was for the Secondary Roads Department Administration addition for $23,987.05, and the third was for a sheriff’s evidence storage pay application for $4,135 to Turner Construction. Also, a resolution for an operating transfer to move $2,000 from the general basic fund to the capital fund was approved.

Three individuals were awarded certificates of appreciation working for the county. Chelsea Endres (pictured above) and Adam Bedwell (second picture) were recognized for five years of service at the Emergency Medical Services Department, while James Zika (bottom picture) was honored for 15 years of service at the Dallas County Conservation Department. The board then opened a drainage district meeting where they had a lengthy discussion about appointing Beau Dawes and Neal Tapkin as appraisers for Drainage District 105 with Jon Rosengren from Bolton and Menk as the engineer for the project.
