Members of 4-H clubs in Guthrie County are celebrating this week.

Guthrie County Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Youth Coordinator Rachel Blum says that it is National 4-H week, and that many are having some fun with the different themed days. She mentions that yesterday was Memory Monday, where 4-H’ers were encouraged to share their favorite 4-H or fair memories. Today is T-shirt Tuesday, and it is being celebrated by wearing 4-H club or Guthrie County Fair t-shirts.

Blum explains that tomorrow is Welcoming Wednesday, when 4-H members are encouraged to tell friends about the organization and the different things that they can do. She adds that Thursday is Thank You Thursday, where members write a thank you to a sponsor or mentor that had an impact on their time in 4-H.

Blum tells Raccoon Valley Radio about an important piece of information that 4-H’ers can use on Friday for Refer a Friend Friday.

“We have resources on our Guthrie County ISU Extension website under the 4-H tab, and then it’s under the ‘Join 4-H tab.’ We have various clubs spread around Guthrie County, as well as different Clover Kids clubs.”

Blum adds that 4-H’ers can also tell their friends how to sign up or join if they think that 4-H is something that they would like to try.
