There have been a few changes to hunting laws since last year.

Iowa Department of Natural Resources Conservation Officer Jeremy King says that one of those changes occurred with the landowner/tenant tags that can be purchased during the different deer seasons. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio what that change is.

“Those tags, you used to have to pick the season that you wanted to hunt. Those landlord/tenant tags are now good all year long. So if you don’t harvest a deer during archery season with your landowner tag, you can roll that over to early muzzleloader, or first or second shot gun, or late muzzleloader season as well.”

King mentions that as with the youth tags, while the landowner/tenant tag can roll over to the next season if it goes unfilled, hunters must use the appropriate weapon for that season to harvest that animal. King adds that early muzzleloader season is October 12th to 20th.
