The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Marching Band represented well at the recent competition, capturing first place while also achieving school history.

ADM attended the North Central Marching Band Competition on September 28th, where they won first place in Class 3A, but also garnered the overall championship for the very first time in school history. Band Instructor Russell Braun comments that ADM has been going yearly to this event since 2003. He acknowledges that between 110 and 115 students are out for band this year, and he’s super proud of all of them.

“They were just really, really good, and at the end of the night, they called our name and I was just like happy, stunned because (I) was just like losing it. It was just amazing, it was one of those moments where you’re just like ‘wow,’ it was just cool.”

Braun adds that the students were ecstatic as well just knowing that their hard work paid off. He reveals that the next competition for ADM will be Valleyfest in West Des Moines on Saturday. A press release from ADM High School states that the band took home the award for the Best Woodwind Section.
