Several schools joined the Iowa Public Broadcasting System’s (PBS) Ready for School Initiative this year.

Eight different districts were added to the nearly 220 other districts already using the initiative, and two are in Guthrie County. The Adair – Casey / Guthrie Center and West Central Valley School Districts both have elementary schools that are taking advantage of the program, which allows for education specialists to work with teachers, parents and childcare providers to implement Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) activities for children aged 2-5 years old. This year’s Ready for School program includes multimedia content related activities that are based upon work found in educational children’s programming that airs on PBS Kids.
