The Iowa High School Athletic Association came out with its first high school football rankings of the 2024 season. Three teams in Class 2A District 8 are ranked ninth or higher and Coach Caden Duncan’s Greene County Rams have have one down and two to go when it comes to those rated teams.

The Rams lost 28-0 to number 5 Kuemper Catholic in Carroll last Friday and they face number 9 Roland-Story this Friday at Linduska Field in Jefferson. The Norsemen are 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the district while the Rams are 2-3 and 1-1. Both Greene County and R-S have lost in district play to Kuemper Catholic. Both have number 7 Des Moines Christian left on the schedule after this week with the Norsemen meeting the Lions in week 7 and the Rams hosting DMC on Oct. 18 in the last game of the regular season.

Coach Caden Duncan’s team gave up one of the largest point totals in decades in the 2023 loss in Story City by a 62-31 score. This Friday game can be heard on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with kickoff at 7 o’clock.
