The next Greene County Historical Society monthly program highlights one of the oldest county parks in Iowa.

According to the Historical Society, the free program in October is this Friday at 12:45pm at the Rippey United Methodist Church and the featured speaker is Greene County Conservation Director Tanner Scheuermann on Squirrel Hollow Park. Organizers say the county park was built in 1934 and is the second oldest county park in the state, next to Briggs Wood in Hamilton County that was established in 1919.

A lunch is served before the program at noon for $12. Contact Program Coordinator Margaret Hamilton at 515-386-4408 by tomorrow to reserve your spot for the meal. Otherwise the program is free and no pre-registration is necessary.
