With just three games to go in the 2024 high school football regular season for the Greene County Rams, the season could end with various scenarios for Coach Caden Duncan’s team.

At 2-3 overall and 1-1 in Class 2A District 8, the Rams play two of the final three games at home and just one on the road. However, the two teams that Rams will host both have winning records and won easily last week. First up is Roland-Story (Story City) this Friday at Linduska Field on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Norsemen are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the district with a six point non-district loss to 4-1 Nevada, a 3A program, and an overtime loss in Carroll to fifth ranked Kuemper Catholic. After a trip to Gowrie to face Southeast Valley for the Rams on Oct. 11, the regular season ends with a game at Linduska Field vs. Des Moines Christian, a team that is 4-1 overall and 2-0 in District 8.

When the five district games are done, the Rams could be one of four playoff teams from the district or they could miss the postseason for a second straight year. It would appear at least one more victory is needed to extend the season beyond eight games.
