The now 1-4 Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs football team achieved the greatest achievement during homecoming, a football win against the Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson Yellowjackets. The Mustangs would come out of the gates motivated and hungry, with Osborn Grim taking the opening kick off all the way to the endzone to give the Mustangs an early 7-0 lead. The Mustangs would continue to keep the pedal to the floor, closing out the first quarter 17-0. The Mustangs would continue to push forward, scoring in the opening seconds of the second quarter, eventually bringing the score to 34-0 at halftime.
The Mustangs would begin to rotate substitutes in that would also continue to execute when needed. In the final minute and a half of the fourth quarter, senior Andrew Senne would get an interception in the endzone preventing the Yellowjackets from scoring to secure a 55-0 shut out victory.
The Dallas Center-Grimes Mustangs now sit at 1-4 and hope to carry the momentum into week six as they travel to Norwalk to take on the Warriors. We’ll have coverage on KDLS beginning at 6pm.
