A city of Jefferson employee is officially retiring and the public is invited to a celebration.
Denny Hammen has served as the parks and recreation department director for the past five years and there will be a retirement party from 4-6pm on Tuesday at the Greene County Community Center. Nathan Kral was recently promoted from the assistant director to Hammen’s role on September 1st. City Administrator Scott Peterson encourages everyone to stop by and congratulate Hammen for his impactful service to the community.
“There has been some great things that have occurred during Denny’s term as park and rec director. And we’re looking for a lot of those fantastic things to continue under the leadership of Nathan Kral, but Denny has really been the leader on a lot of those things. We’re just very, very appreciative to Denny and I know that many, many people around town know Denny and certainly will wish him well as he enters into his official retirement.”
While the hiring process started to find a new assistant director, Hammen agreed to stay on and help Kral. The Jefferson City Council recently approved hiring a new assistant director at their September 24th meeting as Henry Pohlmeyer will also start on October 1st, which Peterson adds residents can also meet him as well.
