September is known as Suicide Prevention Month as the Dallas County Health Department offers ways to confront bad inner feelings.

Community Health Educator Natalie Peters explains that people, who are struggling mentally, can call or text the National Suicide Lifeline’s number of 988. She elaborates on the information that the specialist will help walk a person through.

“Your call or text will connect you to a trained crisis counselor, and it’s a free and confidential service.”

Peters specifies that people are recommended to contact the lifeline if they or a loved one is experiencing a suicidal episode, substance abuse, or mental health crisis. More information can be found on the National Suicide Lifeline’s website at 988lifeline.org.
