An annual event is happening this weekend that pulls together art in several forms in several communities.
The Art Harvest Tour allows individuals to visit art studios in communities such as Jefferson, Perry, Ames, Woodward, Ogden and Boone. According to the organization, attendees will get behind the scenes look at how artists do their craft and get to know them and sometimes there are also guest artists. Jefferson Matters Executive Director Matt Wetrich says there are two locations in the Jefferson area that are on the tour, including Elliott Art Studio with Chad Elliott and Wayuga Art Studio with Joseph Murray. He talks about the location alone for Murray’s studio as a great backdrop to see on the western side of Jefferson.
“Actually, it’s a beautiful location out between Jefferson and Scranton along the Raccoon River Valley there. I’ve been by there a number of times. It’s a really pretty area anyway, a good excuse to go meet him and see his studio.”
Wetrich adds that Elliott Art Studio is a creative place where Chad does lots of artistic painting and he notes that soon Elliott is going to be making ceramics as well.
The Art Harvest Tour is tomorrow and Sunday from 10am-5pm. Click here to find more information, including the map with all of the locations of the 11 studios that have 22 artists participating.
