Greene County sent its cross-country runners to the River Bend Golf Course in Story City on Thursday for the Roland-Story Norsemen Invitational. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s boys’ team placed eighth among 13 teams with 203 points while the girls had just four runners, one short of qualifying for a team score. Bondurant-Farrar won the boys’ team title with 54 points and Nevada was second at 72.
The Rams were led by senior Noah Hinote, who placed tenth in 17:32.61, a season best time. Sophomore Brady Carstensen was 34th in 18:16.18, followed by freshman Nick Black, 44th in 18:43.29, junior Carter Hinote, 45th in 18:45.43, and 70th place Jaden Kolle, a junior, in 20:51.79. The Greene County coach called the teams in the meet “a very tough field.”
Freshman Rylee Mowrer led the Greene County girls with a 38th place finish in 23:19.64 Senior Ava Jablonski was 86th in 26:31.63, followed by Leah McCormick, 114th in 30:58.13, and Cora Powers, 123rd in 33:30.63.
