The Stuart Revitalization Group’s Downtown History Walk is tomorrow night.
The walk kicks off at 6:30pm from the Stuart Depot, and includes local residents and business owners reviving the past as memorable individuals who helped build and lead the community and owned businesses. The walk will be led by Bob Cook as John Herriott, a Civil War veteran who built the building that The Stuart Scoop is in. Stuart Revitalization Group Member Russ Wagner, who will be playing as Earl Wise who founded the Stuart Creamery and Stuart Locker, tells Raccoon Valley Radio why the Revitalization Group holds events like these.
“We’re charged with bringing activities to the downtown area so that we can really, not just parlay on how Stuart is growing, but (show) we have a lot of attractive attractions for people to see.”
Wagner mentions that attendees will also hear from other Stuart Revitalization Group members representing Carrie McKee, the widow of Mayor R. J. McKee; along with C. P. Veils who established the building that Doe A Deer resides in, and Lorraine and Maxine Gere, who ran the Kozy Korner. Those participating in the event will eventually make their way back to the Stuart Depot, and be able to enjoy chili and cookies.
